Pitchfork 2009 Lineup Announced

pitchfork-lineup

Last night Pitchfork announced some bands that are going to be at its annual festival and I have to give credit where credit is due. The list so far is pretty fantastic. The Jesus Lizard playing their first American Show in a decade on Friday will all but ensure that I be there for the entire three days. The three day festival is set to take place July 17-19 at Chicago’s Union Park. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 13.

Here’s the lineup so far, as announced on Pitchfork:

“Friday, July 17

Built to Spill
The Jesus Lizard
Yo La Tengo
Tortoise

Saturday, July 18

The National
Pharoahe Monch
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
+ many more!

Sunday, July 19

Grizzly Bear
The Walkmen
Vivian Girls
+ many more!”

As a side note, apparently the bands on Friday are playing set lists that the fans vote on. I guess that is cool, but in the past few years they have had bands play through entire albums, which would have been pretty righteous considering the company that is playing this year.
